1 and 2 Timothy

Our church, The Chapel, goes through a book or several books of the Bible each month. We call it the "Book of the Month Club". We started doing it in January and it has been such a blessing. Each month we read through a book/s and then on the last Sunday of the month we get together to celebrate what we have read. It's not so much a "Bible study" of what we've read, but more of a time to have fun and celebrate the great truths of the Bible.

This month we read through 1 and 2 Timothy and it has been so good! Just tonight I was sitting down and reflecting on some of the things that I have read which have struck me.

  • Everything that God created is GOOD, even though we has humans pervert some things that God once created for good.
  • If God filled the Apostle Paul with love and grace for people that he once hated, he can do the same for me with people I might find difficult to get along with.
  • Spend time in preparing yourself for spiritual fitness. It promises a reward in this life and in the next!
  • True religion with contentment is great wealth.
  • It is good to constantly remember others in prayer.
  • Never be ashamed to tell others about God.
  • Paul was willing to endure anything as long as it brought salvation and glory to God.
  • Follow what makes you want to do right.
  • Jesus followers should be able to be patient with difficult people.
  • If you live a godly life, you will suffer persecution.
  • Eagerly await for Jesus' return.
Just a few of the many tid bits of wisdom found in 1 and 2 Timothy. It has been so good! Next month we read through Daniel.

I leave you with my new favorite verse:

"Glory and honor to God forever and ever. He is the eternal King, the unseen One who never dies; He alone is God."

what great insights! your book club sounds really great - what a good idea, nontraditional but it sounds like you're learning so much as you celebrate God's word... what does your title mean? (of your blog) smiles, deanne

PS i didn't know you had a blog until today - looking good!
