Love

I was blessed tonight as I read 1 Corinthians 13:4-8. It seems like the love chapter is so clichè but when I read it tonight I saw it in a new way. The concept of "love" is often hard to understand. What does it truly mean to love someone? Jesus said that others will know that we follow Him because of our love. Tonight I dissected 1 Corinthians 13 a little and this is what the Bible says that practical love looks like:

patient
kind
not envious
not boastful
not proud
not rude
not self-seeking
not easily angered
keeps no record of wrongs
does not delight in evil
rejoices with the truth
always protects
always trusts
always hopes
always perseveres

Love never fails

Is this the type of love that I show daily? Each one of those aspects of love fits together to form the perfect example of love:

Jesus

Thank you, Lord, for showing us what love is and for showing us how we can love You and others.

Hi Ann,

I was reading your older blogs and was struck by this one. It's good. Thanks!

Also... read a sad comment on your blog warning you to "be careful" with me. It broke my heart. I'm sorry that -somehow!- your blog... of all blogs... would be a platform for someone to vent their anger. I'm going through a heartbreaking annulment of my recent marriage, and he's leaving a trail of hurtful words and aggressive deeds behind us. I'm so, so sorry you - like many of my family and friends - are on the receiving end, too. It devastates and breaks me that someone I don't even know is glimpsing the problem from halfway across the country!

Again, I'm sorry. Please know that you will still remain in my prayers and favorite list!

Glad you guys made it back safely! May God bless you even more abundantly in this season of His birth!
