Lessons In Salsa-Making

Michael makes great salsa - some of you may have had the privilege of tasting it. Being that there is nothing secretive about his salsa (as he learned it from someone else) we thought we'd pass along the goodness. The warmer days are just around the corner (even though here in San Diego it's HOT today!) and chips and cool salsa are a delicious treat!

Enjoy this picture recipe!

You will need a bowl to mix up the salsa

A can of diced tomatoes

A few fresh tomatoes

Cut up the fresh tomatoes and place them in the bowl along with the canned diced tomatoes

Then get a few bunches of green onion

Dice up the green onion and add it to the tomatoes

You'll also need some cilantro

And you will add it to the tomatoes and green onions

If you like medium-hot salsa you will add in jalapeno pepper WITH the seeds. If you like mild salsa you can put in one jalapeno without the seeds.

In this case Michael was making salsa that was a medium so he left the seeds in. Dice up the jalapenos.

Add some tasty garlic

Dice it up and add it to the rest of the ingredients

Add a tablespoon of Lawry's seasoning salt

Some lime juice

Mix it all up with a hand mixer

And voila - you have yourself some delicious, fresh salsa!

Enjoy!

Omygoodness... I am thrilled with this post! I LOVE salsa, being a Texas girl. (My Dad proudly reminds me that I was eating Pace Picante sauce and drinking coffee by age three.) But for all my salsa eating, I've never once tried making it. Now I have an excuse. Thanks, you guys, for taking the time to share such a delicious-looking recipe! I have a hunch you guys could be somewhat of an authority, what with your background and all... ;D

Oh, and Ann, I've been meaning for days to answer your question on my blog about the mint tea. I make my own in the summer when my mint is growing like crazy, but during the winter I like the Bigelow brand - either Mint or Spearmint is great. If you can't find it in CA, let me know and I'll happily send you over a box or two. Such a refreshing way to "take your tea"!

Again, thanks for the recipe! Can't wait to try it out!

Would be a lot cooler if it was a video with weird indie music.

Yummy!!!

Fresh salsa is the best...I like the green onions idea...much better than the regular onions that I use...I also like the cool looking cutting and dicing device:)

I am hungry already:)
