Lime, Lemon and Apple - What Will Be Next?

Sea Monkey has been growing! Each week I receive an email that give us a little update on what's going on inside of me. It's so fun to read about the growth that is taking place and learning about the things that Sea Monkey is now able to do!

"Your growing baby now measures about 4 inches long, crown to rump, and weighs in at about 2 1/2 ounces (about the size of an apple). She's busy moving amniotic fluid through her nose and upper respiratory tract, which helps the primitive air sacs in her lungs begin to develop. Her legs are growing longer than her arms now, and she can move all of her joints and limbs. Although her eyelids are still fused shut, she can sense light. If you shine a flashlight at your tummy, for instance, she's likely to move away from the beam."

That was the update at week 15. Each week they compare the size of baby to something that we would be familiar with. A few weeks ago Sea Monkey was the size of a lime and now he/she has moved up to apple status! Amazing!

This pregnancy has been relatively easy thus far. I really can't complain at all. The food aversions still continue even though it's diminished a little. Other than that, life is pretty normal! Clothes are starting to get a little bit tighter but still wear-able. My sister, Anna, is letting me use some of her maternity clothes. I am so greatful! It would be fun to go out and buy a whole new wardrobe, though! In the next few weeks I will have to venture out to buy some new pants as the ones I am wearing will not last much longer. It seems as though these days wearing sweat pants sounds much more appealing.

I am starting to think much more about life after Sea Monkey is born. I guess that's pretty normal. As I go about my day now I think of how different it will be by next fall. It's fun to think of the fun things we will get to do but the reality of less sleep and a life that will never be the same is hitting us also! But it's all a part of life and we gladly look forward to the changes.

We have yet to make up our minds about finding out the gender of Sea Monkey. We've resorted to finding out what other people did. So...if you had the chance to, would you find out what you were having or would you wait until the baby is born to find out? Drop us a comment! It's been fun asking people and hearing different opinions.

Everyone around us seems to be leaning towards Sea Monkey being a boy - but we shall see! I suppose there is a 50-50 chance. Whatever you are, Sea Monkey, we'll be glad for!

But alas, life does go on until Sea Monkey makes his/her appearance. We will both be doing a little traveling in February. Michael will be going to a conference up in Seattle and I will be heading over to Michigan to visit my dear friend Roxy. Roxy just had little Tessa two months ago and I am looking forward to getting a full report about "life with baby"!

Until next time,

Ann

I wanted to find out; Anna wanted to wait...we waited. I must say it was very exciting to discover Grace was a girl the day she came. I think you will be just as suprised and excited no matter what you do!

Ann,
I chose to find out Emma's gender because I wanted to be able to plan ahead for her nursery and things like that. Looking back, I am so glad that I found out because it made the pregnancy seem more real to me. She was more of a person with an identity once I knew the gender and I could have more things to look forward to once I knew she was a girl. I started calling her Emma unconsciously even before I had agreed to name her that. It just felt right. I loved knowing, but I also understand the benefits of waiting.

Hi to both of you and Sea Monkey.

Ruth and I didn't have the luxury of "knowing" before birth the gender of our 3 beautiful children. I enjoyed the excitement and surprise at the moment of birth. That was the best part. Planning, yes Ruth and I did that, we decorated the rooms, etc. but the best was waiting till the last for the exhilarating surprise that God gave us.

Do feel okay about coming here to visit if you can fit northern Indiana into your Michigan plans. Also, did you know that the recently crowned Miss America hails from Michigan and the first runner up comes from Indiana? There's something to be said about those mid-west girls and living that produces the cream of the crop.
