Birthday Boy

Mr. Michael had a birthday last week and we partied like there was no end! I don't think he can complain as we had about three different parties - and that doesn't include all the other mini-celebrations that he had! He mentioned several times during the last days how special he felt and how everyone has really loved on him. Well, honey, you deserve it! Everyone deserves to have a special birthday.

The first birthday party took place last Wednesday while my parents and grandparents were here visiting from Central California. Since they wouldn't get to be here on the actual birthday day we decided to have the first party a little early. Michael picked out the menu for the evening - tri tip with sauteed onions, a salad, and bread. Dessert was his special creation which he has given the name of "Strawberry Delight". It's cut up strawberries with vanilla ice cream - all this covered in milk! It is quite delicious!

We took a break from partying for two days and then resumed on Saturday, the birthday boy's actual big day. We spent the morning together getting Jamba Juice (his favorite breakfast treat) and shopping for some new clothes for him. He doesn't buy clothes too often, so I was excited to be able to go with him and get him some new things.

In the afternoon, Michael's brother and sister came over and we headed over to Costa Brava, a local Spanish restaurant. We love going there to watch soccer games and to EAT! The tapas are delicious there, especially their patatas bravas and olives.

Although the team we were rooting for lost, we still had a great time. After leaving it was time to get ready for the big party that evening. Michael had requested that we have a game night for his birthday so that is exactly what we did. We had a great group of friends that came over. It is certainly a blessing to be surrounded by wonderful friends. We all hit it off just great and Michael told me the evening was a success! Here are a few pictures of our time together.

And the birthday festivities finally concluded on Sunday when we had a special Easter dinner for Michael's birthday. We celebrated with his family and had a grand time! Once again, Michael had requested that something special be made for his party so we had honey glazed ham, a salad, bread, stuffed mushrooms and for dessert, Michael's sister made a tiramisu. Delicious!

And now we wait another year until the next birthday. This one will certainly one that will not be forgotten! Thanks to everyone who called, sent a card or gave a gift. Your love was evident!

And Birthday Boy, we are glad for you! I, for one, am grateful for your life and your dedication to your family and to Jesus! It is exciting to live life with you and I look forward to watching you as you start on a new part of your life - fatherhood! (which by the way, you are already doing great at!)
