Following The Light

"In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it."
John 1:1-5

Our church, The Chapel, has been reading through the Gospel of John during the month of April. Today as I was in our room something struck me. I looked at one of the plants that we have in our room. Just a few days ago I had turned it around. Have you ever noticed how plants have the tendency to follow the light? It wasn't more than a few days ago that I had turned the plant, and today I had to turn it again. Almost ALL the leaves were stretching out towards the window in our room. That window in particular is the biggest and gets lots of light. No wonder our plant friend was stretching out towards it.

As I thought about it more, it made me think of the verses I had read in John 1 last week. Those verses made me think about God and His greatness. We have life because of GOD. Everything that has life has it because of GOD. And not only does God bring life, but He brings light. When God sent His Son, Jesus, He was the light of the world.

"The light shines in the darkness,
and the darkness can never extinguish it."
John 1:5

Jesus' light shines brightly. Am I like a plant and constantly aiming at growing towards the light of Jesus? I know I fall short so many times. I want to be like a plant. I want to grow towards the Light.

Just a little thought for today!
