I met Grandma Hilton back in 2004 when Michael and I first started dating. I still remember my first trip to the Hilton ranch. Not only did I get to meet Grandpa and Grandma, but I got some other, less-pleasant introductions.
Yes, that was when I met Hannibal (rest in peace, dear fellow)
My first time meeting Grandpa and Grandma Hilton went well, even though Grandpa Hilton thought I was still in high school (I had already graduated from college). Over the years I enjoyed going back to the Hilton ranch and enjoyed good talks with Grandma. She always made sure everyone was well taken care of and happy. She was what a Grandma should be - caring and loving.
It was a privilege for me to also be able to give Grandma Hilton her 2nd great grandchild (after dearest Grace). One day when Elena grows up I will show her pictures of her Great Grandma and tell her what a wonderful lady she was.
The last time we saw Grandma Hilton was about a month and a half ago. She was not feeling well and stayed in bed but still made it a point to talk to us and show us that she cared. At the end of our time there, she told all three of us that she loved us. Repeatedly. As I look back, that goodbye becomes very meaningful.
* I said I would post pictures from our trip to England and Wales but that will just have to wait until things have settled down a little. Not only are we mourning the loss of a family member but we are also happy anticipating the birth of a niece or nephew very soon. Hopefully, we will have some good news to report soon!

We will miss you, Grandma Hilton.
It just won't be the same without you.
