Elena and I went to go visit Abuelo and Abuela (what my parents are hoping Elena will call them!) for part of the week about two weeks ago. We drove up to see them on our own and then Michael flew up on Friday. Before Michael got there, Elena and I had fun visiting various people.
We started our round of visits by going to see Great Grandpa and Grandma. We had some delicious grilled sandwiches with them and salad and just enjoyed being together. Grandpa and Grandma got to feed Elena her lunch and she seemed to enjoy being fed by such nice people! But the real fun started when Grandpa brought in some tomatoes from their garden. Elena has taken quite a liking to tomatoes and grabbed two tomatoes and sunk her teeth (all two of them - she's getting 4 more right now!) into the tomatoes. Of course, there is always plenty of fruit around Grandpa and Grandma's house and Elena had a feast eating pieces of cantaloupe, plums, and watermelon. But the best was when Grandpa brought in some grapes and let Elena eat them, one by one. Well, here's photographic evidence...
One of the days we went to visit one of my roommates from college, Sheryl. She is a stay at home mom now too so we went to visit her and four month-old Joel. Elena had fun interacting with Joel and giggled with Sheryl. All in all, a fun playdate! And I enjoyed seeing Sheryl again and meeting Joel. He's a smiley cutie!
Elene also got to spend lots of time with her Abuelo and Abuela. We went to dinner at the Burton's and Elena stayed with her abuelos and they had a fantastic time together (from what I heard!) We are glad for time Elena can spend with her family.
And on our way home we stopped in to see our friends Sergio and Kendra and little Luca. Its always nice to have a place to stop and break up the trip, but most of all, we love being with our friends! Its fun when you can have friends with whom you have things in common. We met them years ago at a Spanish restaurant here in town and hit it off and have been friends ever since. We were both newly married couples "way back" then and now we have our little families of three.
More pictures coming in the next post of our fun picnic outing to Pine Flat Dam with Abuelo and Abuela. Too many pictures in one day can be a bit overwhelming, can't it?
P.S. You know how at the end of movies or TV shows they have the bloopers? Well, we've got some to add to this post. They are pictures that didn't quite make the cut but are good nonetheless. Enjoy! Someone didn't want to have her picture taken...
