"...because they knew who He was..."
Jesus performed many miracles: He healed people, drove out demons, raised people from the dead, etc. Even, though people followed Him and came to Him it wasn't because of what He could do for them, but because they knew who He was.
How many times do we come to Jesus because of what He can do for us? How many times do I pray to God with my own interests in mind? Why do we often take "prayer requests" but neglect to simply praise God for Who He is?
Each month The Chapel has a prayer night on a Monday. We pray for an hour through a book called The Hour That Changes The World. I love praying with my friends from the Chapel because a large emphasis of our time together is simply praising God for Who He is. Yes, we do take time to pray for our needs, but I believe our prayer time is balanced.

God, our Creator and the Sustainer of our lives, deserves all our praise!

Ann,
I stumbled onto your blog as it was a featured blog this morning at blogger.com. You're so fun to read! I appreciate your comments on prayer... on how we ARE so often quick to ask and slow to praise. How encouraging to see other fellow believers out there!
My blog's at: messythrillinglife@blogspot.com. Hope you can visit me soon, too!
Encouraged,
