Hello everyone! These last days have been busy ones as we´ve been running all over the place. Since setting foot in Spain we have been visiting people, places, eating, sleeping (thankfully!) and having a great time. I could not have asked for a better experience.
Arriving in Spain was like arriving back at home. A few things have changed (lots of construction, the Euro, fashion etc) but much of what I remembered has remained the same. Spaniards are still very honest people, the food they make is still some of the best and well, the list could go on. I feel, in a way, like I´m right back at home. It´s like I´ve gone back in time and re-living my life. The only strange thing is that now there is someone else with me- Michael! It has been great to be able to introduce him to some of the people that have known me since I was a little shy kid with glasses. I hope that Michael will be better able to understand my quirky side as I know there are times when he wonders why I do the things I do
The first couple days it rained. I was only slightly dissapointed because apparently, it hadn´t rained for a long time so I was happy for the rain. These last days have been beatiful fall, sunny days and we are enjoying the warmer weather. It definitely feels like fall around here as the leaves are changing color.
We have been seeing people on a pretty constant basis so the times spent alone with Michael or with my parents are very much appreciated. On Tuesday, we took the day off and went sightseeing around some of the smaller, historical towns around Madrid like El Escorial and Segovia for you Spain travelers! It was SO good to be back in those places and to be able to experience them with my hubby!
We have a few more days left here in Madrid and on Monday morning we head out for southern Spain to see Michaels friends and favorite places. Just things morning we were able to sit down and plan out the rest of our trip. It will be great to experience a different part of Spain and to meet the people that Michael knew growing up.
I could write volumes. I have so many emotions. We have seen so many things. I have thought about so many things. It has been absolutely wonderful to see God at work in the lives of people here in Spain. Sadly, some have left their faith in God, others have left the church and yet there are some that have a renewed commitment to God. We just pray that we will be an encouragement to these people in their walk with God. Who knows how God might want to use us?
I´ll leave you with a few (just a few, because we have taken hundreds already and because they take forever to upload!) of pictures....Michael has some uploaded on his Flickr account (on my links, to the right).
