We just returned a couple days ago from a wonderful family vacation up at Hume Lake. My grandparents had rented a cabin for our family. We all began arriving on Friday afternoon and by Saturday evening almost everyone was there (just a few people from our family were missing this year!) We have a new addition to the family this year since Kimmy will be marrying our cousin Jonathan! Congrats!
Unfortunately, our trip didn't get off to a good start when our car began overheating on the way up the mountain. Hot car. Hot day. Thirsty people. Definitely didn't make for a fun wait. As always, looking back you realize what a funny story it'll be. Sure was fun to wait for more than an hour out in the sun.
Back to the family weekend: I took video of the weekend and it seems like all I did was video us getting food ready, eating food, or....eating food! We did make some time to take walks, go canoeing, spend time talking, making crafts, etc.
Grandpa had planned for a few of us in the family to share about different aspects of family and how families can be strengthened. We talked about worship, prayer, time spend together, faith and other issues that surround families. It was so wonderful to be able to share with everyone and to hear what God is doing in our family. It is a rarity in today's time to find a family in which the grandparents, parents and grandchildren all are following God. And now that the grandchildren are marrying, it's time for us to start laying a foundation for future generations of Jesus-followers. I was reminded of the great legacy of faith that we can pass down. Having a common faith in God truly does keep families together.
We also spent some time celebrating my Grandparents 60th Wedding Anniversary. The actual date isn't until January 2008, but since most of us were together we went ahead and celebrated. We performed a skit with my aunt and uncle (pictures below), watched a slide show that we had made to commemorate the special days as well as having cake (once again, eating!) to celebrate.
I was sad when our car drove away from the cabin when the weekend was over. Sad because I don't get to spend a lot of time with my extended family. They are such a blessing to me. Love you each!
Fun memories from this weekend:
Salty garlic bread (yum!)
Our visitor, the deer
Splashing each other while canoeing
Newlywed/Oldywed skit
Praying for one another
Delicious food

Family reunions are sure fun..especially when we are connected through Christ! Yes, you are right, Bella, nowadays it is very rare to have a big family (grandparents, parents, kids, and kid's children) who are all Christ-followers...Praise the Lord that we have these families:):):)
I am so glad that you had such a wonderful time...looking at your pictures makes me miss our big Bridges family reunion at Lake Siskiyou, nearby Mt Shasta...
