In spite of the heat, everyone had a really good time - at least I did! I think often of how blessed Baby Girl is to be born into such wonderful families on both sides. She will certainly be loved by many. She is moving in my belly right now so that must have been her way of saying "thanks".
The afternoon kicked off with a round of clothespin wars. Well, that's not the official name but it sounds good. Two people competed each time to see who could take off the most clothespins off the line with one hand. In the other hand they were to be holding a baby. One-handed clothespin picking is not easy, folks! However, though many of us failed (myself included), Marlon, Becca and Michael were able to show us how it's done! Thankfully, everyone reassured me that I will make a good mom even though my hands aren't big enough to fit tons of clothespins.
Since Father's Day was the next day, the next two quizzes we took were testing our knowledge of Bible babies and Bible fathers. They were hard! Always a good reminder to keep studying the Bible and being filled with the knowledge of this life-changing book. Oh, but before that we had everyone fill out a piece of paper on which they guessed the birth date, weight and length of
Baby Girl. We also had everyone give some possible names for her. It was fun to see some of the suggestions - we just might use a couple of them for our list! (For those of you that are wondering, we don't have a name picked just yet! We do have a list of names we like and are considering but will probably wait to make the final decision until we see her! How can we give a name to someone we have never met?)
Eating time! My mom and other family members all came together and provided us with a great meal. It was delicious! Of course, everyone sat around and chatted and got caught up on each other's lives. A few also took the time to look at all the baby pictures that different people had brought so that they could try and identify who was who. It was pretty fun to see everyone and how they have changed.
And lastly, we opened gifts! Several of our family members came together and bought us the stroller and car seat that we had picked out. Clothes, baby monitor and miscellaneous baby lotions, creams and shampoos were also part of the gifts. One gift that we will definitely treasure for a long time was the one made by my mom's cousin. It's a beautiful quilt that we're sure Baby Girl will enjoy for years to come!
Thanks, family, for your love for us!
