Hume Lake 2008 - a poem

'Twas time for the annual Koop vacation
And Hume Lake Christian Camp was the destination.

It was a wonderful time, spent by all,
Being surrounded by God's creation, trees big and tall.

We all arrived on Friday in time for dinner,
Wow, that lasagna was a winner!

Little by little we all arrived
Of food, none were deprived.

We did a lot of catching up on each other's lives
While eating, cooking or washing the forks and knives.

Saturday morning was time for a walk
Some hiked around the lake, while other's stayed by the gift shop to talk.

By lunch time we were ready for some food
The Redekops and Olivas' put us in a Mexican, festive mood!

Each enjoyed their own activities in the afternoon
I stayed at the cabin to take a nap, not wanting baby to come too soon.

Others went to the lake to splash around a bit
Using their paddles the water to hit

Then we gathered to eat
We needed some meat!

The hamburgers and pasta salad were so good!
Our family sure knows how to make good food.

After eating we all came together to sing
And to pray to Jesus, Our King!

We shared what God has done
Spending time with family was surely fun.

The night was not over yet
For the Wii was all set

A little competition was enjoyed by all
Trying to aim that bowling ball

The next morning, after a good night's rest
We all put on our Sunday best

A few pictures with the family were shot
Thankfully, it wasn't too hot

Soon after the church service began
Of the songs we sang, I was a fan!

From the Bible we heard a talk
And then back up the hill most did walk

We had another delicious meal
The roast beef, rice, salad and green beans were ideal!

Then birthday wishes we did sing
For Ann and her cousin Jonathan, the one with the new, shiny ring

Soon after eating we all packed up and went our own ways
Until the next family vacation we are counting the days.

Thank you, Lord, for a family that is great,
We just missed having Uncle Jim, David, Ben and Kate!
