On Sunday was Elena's big day so we celebrated several different times. Grandpa and Grandma K. came for a visit last weekend so it was extra special having them around. We had a special breakfast that morning with some delicious scones. Elena even got to try a little bit! She gladly posed for the camera and was happy to open one of her gifts!
Since it was on a day when we normally go to church in the morning we decided to bring a snack to church and celebrate with everyone that was there. It worked out perfectly! Grandma had made a delicious snack for everyone and it was just great for a hot day.
After church everyone came over to our house and we had a small party with the family. Our family is certainly growing so parties are no longer "small" but they sure are fun! We all took a special picture for Elena's 1st!
I know I've said this before but there is one little person in this world who Elena loves to pieces! And that would be her three year-old cousin Grace. When they get together they giggle and smile. They are attached at the hip. So glad Elena will get to grow up with a wonderful cousin who loves her so much! Grace was very helpful in assisting Elena as she opened her gifts when the time came.
Here is our darling "blowing" our her candle. Before Elena got to even try, Grace came in and blew it out! It's just as well, because Elena hasn't gotten the idea of blowing yet. Her version of blowing involves more spitting than blowing so maybe it was good Grace helped her out! Elena had strawberry and blueberry shortcake for her birthday. Just perfect for a little girl!
And then came the gift opening. Among her favorite gifts were a doll from Grandpa and Grandma H. and a baby stroller from Grandpa and Grandma K. Just perfect for Elena! She has taken a liking to dolls lately so it will be fun to watch her practice her mommy skills! They grow up so fast! A year ago she was a baby and now she's taking care of her own!
Thanks to everyone that helped make Elena's 1st Birthday a very fun-filled day. She thanks you from the bottom of her little heart!
