A year ago today (at 9:00am to be precise) we were able to hold you for the very first time. You had been a part of our family for over 40 weeks before that but being able to see you, hold you and hear you for the first time was truly wonderful. You have grown and changed so much during the last year. You have gone from a tiny, defenseless baby to a silly, smiley, happy little almost-walking girl.
So many people like you, Elena, and I think it's because you smile and are happy a lot. You have your occasional moments of crying, but its always for a legitimate reason. You smile, laugh and have a joyful expression most of the time!
Not only have you changed, but I know we have changed also. Our love has grown, our patience has grown (and still has room to grow) and we are being molded by God as we interact with you. All I can do is cry for joy as I think about your life and what you mean to me and your Daddy.
We love you more than you'll ever know or understand, and that is just a small amount in comparison to God's love for you. We continue to pray for God's watch over your life and the decisions you make.
Little girl, you are loved by so many people. Happy 1st Birthday, sweetie.
