An Unlikely Visit

The trash was full. Time to take it out again. Any excuse I get to go outside these days is welcomed. It is absolutely beautiful these days - perfect spring weather in the making! I tied the trash bag closed and proceeded to open the screen door.

What do you think? Having never seen a reptile of this size in my backyard I ran upstairs to grab my camera. Thankfully, the visitor was just enjoying a little time in the shade and didn't move.

I guess this is who I can expect to see since we live right next to a river.

So, what do you think this critter is? A really big lizard?
